Milwaukee Rampage Sporting Chance Press Release

Milwaukee Rampage Sporting Chance Non-Profit organization nominated for MPS Afterschool Programs S.O.A.R. Award.  Supporting Opportunities for Afterschool Resources

The SOAR Award is presented to an individual, group, or organization that has provided exemplary quality afterschool enrichment to an MPS afterschool program (Community Learning Center, Safe Place, or Child Care Camp) through services, resources, or partnership.

The Rampage appears every Monday and Wednesday at Gwen T. Jackson school and supports the afteschool program for K3-2nd graders and will eventually will work with 3rd-5th graders this summer. Coaches Tommy Alioto and Mike Anderson lead the soccer and educational programming. The Rampage also has formed a community partnership with Right Step Military Academy and utilizes top rated cadets as councilors and role models. Together they implement and facilitate dynamic, exceptionally well rounded programs. They instill fun, engaging, academic and wellness educational enrichment that students view as recreation but the outcomes of discipline and increased academic scores  speak loudly for the purpose of this SOAR award.

CLC Director Angel Robinson is glad to partner with the Rampage, "The Milwaukee Rampage has been very consistent, very quick with creativity and engagement with the students, and overall I do not think we could have made the holistic gains we have made this year without their assistance."

The 2011-12 SOAR Award will be presented at Turn on the Talent 2012, Milwaukee's 6th Annual Lights On! Afterschool Talent Showcase, on April 4, 2011.
